Highlights of Our 2011 Travel Adventures in Photos

We’d like to say THANK YOU from the depths of our hearts for your support and readership throughout the year!

What a year it has been!

We kicked off the year with our honeymoon in Japan and is bidding 2011 goodbye from Spain. Throughout, we’ve shared our adventures with you through this site.

We officially launched Idelish with the new design and layout in April of this year and have been blogging on this new site for 8 full months! We’ve received tremendous support both from the travel and blogging community as well as from our friends, families and readers!

We’d like to say THANK YOU from the depths of our hearts and wish you all the wonderful things the new year brings!

As we reflect on the year 2011, we’d like to highlight some of our most memorable experiences from 2011 for us here at Idelish..

 

Hung out with Snow Monkeys in Nagano, Japan

We kicked off the year celebrating our honeymoon traveling around Japan. Here, we visited Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano and hung out with the snow monkeys.

Stayed in a ryokan in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido

Staying at a Ryokan is an experience everyone should try if they have the opportunity to! We stayed at a ryokan on our trip to Noboribetsu Onsen in Sapporo.

Ate real Kobe beef in Kobe, Japan

We took the shinkansen and traveled from Kyoto to Kobe just to have Kobe beef for lunch!

Ate “Genghis Khan” Mutton Grill in Sapporo, Japan

Delicious charcoal fired, juicy, mouthwatering mutton grill. Need I say more?

Visited Taj Mahal in Agra, India

We visited India with our families. Taj Mahal was one of my favorite stops on our trip around the Golden Triangle (New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur).

Visited Monasteries in the region of Jammu & Kashmir, India

We had the privilege to visit Thiksey Monastery in Leh. We were mesmerized by the beauty of mother nature and the monasteries built into the mountains!

Learnt a magic word in Leh, India

We learnt the use of a magic word, “Juleh” while in Leh. Check out our post to learn why it’s magic!

Stayed in a tent at 15,000 ft high at Pangong Tso, India

At 15,000ft, it got really cold at night. However, it was worth it as we were camped out right beside the beautiful Lake Pangong, a lake that is owned by India AND China!

Learnt to surf in Maui, Hawaii

We learnt surfing in Maui with Goofy Foot Surf School. They had a “you’ll surf on your first try or your lesson is free” policy. Nothing to lose, we thought! We both successfully surfed on our first try!

Watched the sunrise from the top of Mt. Haleakala, Maui

We left our hotel at around 3am to reach the top of Mt. Haleakala at 5am, before sunrise. It was freezing cold, windy and dark. The beautiful sunrise made it all worth it!

Camped at Olson-Kundig Designed Cabins, Rolling Huts at Winthrop, WA

We camped at Rolling Huts cabins, designed by famous architects, Olson and Kundig. It really was luxury camping as our cabin had mattresses, wifi, mirowave, fireplace, heating and balcony. Needless to say, it was an amazing trip!

 Went scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico

We went scuba diving in Cozumel and saw an abundance of beautiful marine life. Among them was a resting Nurse Shark at about 90ft underwater!

Smooched Stingrays in Cayman Islands

We had the chance to interact with these prehistoric looking creatures during a visit to Stingray City when our cruise ship stopped at Grand Cayman.

We did not plan for such a hectic year of travels but are glad we jumped on every opportunity we got to travel. With travels to India, Hawaii, Japan and Caribbean,2011 is going to be a difficult year to beat in terms of amount of travelling we can do in a year!

We sincerely hope you’ve all had a great year as well!

    Wow!! LOvely pictures!! Actually me and my whole family planning to go for scuba diving..I love adventurous trips and my kids too..:) and I think the things you covered through the post are quiet impressive, good job and great efforts. I found it very interesting and enjoyed reading all of it…keep it up, lovely job..
